Culture compass
With work done in over 20 countries, I have not only learned about other cultures but also about my own. For instance, I like the insights about the Durch culture in "The Undutchables". In The Netherlands, we value self ridiculisation. It is a way to show you are not overly confident or arrogant. That this is different in other cultures, along with many other aspects, is valuable knowledge without which one can get into serious problems when working in an international organisation.
