Process management

Process management is an internal concern. Hiring external advisors to map processes is a doomed effort since it delivers lifeless handbooks that are outdated as soon as they are finished.

There still is a road to success; by involving all employees in adopting the new mindset (with the product in mind, and continuous improvements in the centre of the eye) and to have them cooperate in setting up the new process descriptions. Before process management, there were no process descriptions to follow, so the method of operation first has to be developed.

This takes a lot of time. The external advisor can assist, guide, and support. The cost of hiring external advisors is then limited to the key moments where he or she is is coordinating workshops, training people and assisting project management. Higher cost isn't necessary since the rest of the work can be done by the organisation's employees. By letting them perform the tasks, the new way of working appears on its own, because it is not about the goal but the road towards it that creates the required result.
